Choosing the right DJ: Quality vs. Cost
Let me start by saying that I am not one of those DJs who hates on another DJ, particularly a good DJ. I give credit where credit is due. I recently attended an event with my wife and upon arrival I could hear the bass thumping throughout the venue. At that time, the venue was still kind of empty so I took the opportunity to snoop around and check out the equipment being used by the hired entertainment. I was quite impressed by the top quality sound system, especially the bass subs. Based upon what I saw, I thought that the event would be great.
After about thirty minutes, I realized that quality equipment does not equal quality service. People quickly filled the room anticipating a night full of dancing and enjoyment. As I looked around, I could see that I was not the only one perplexed by the lack of sound quality when the DJ adjusted the volume to accommodate the crowd.
That DJs mixing skills were absolutely horrible!
The party goers had become annoyed by the overwhelming screaming that he was doing on the microphone to cover his terrible transitions and music choices. It was clear that the DJ was not in tune with his audience who were sitting, talking and engrossed in their cellular devices. My DJ “spidey senses” were heightened, so I began to ask around to see why this DJ was hired. As I had guessed, the DJ was chosen because he was the cheapest in cost. Shaking my head in disbelief, I did my best to battle through the rest of the night as I empathized with the patrons who had paid over $50 to attend this event! Feeling like the worst night ever, my wife and I finally left after three hours with a deeper belief that you truly “get what you pay for”.
The moral of my story is…
When looking to hire the best DJ in the Savannah area for your event, Never choose cost over quality because poor quality will cost you more in the end. A quality DJ will always know his audience and knows how to adjust “on the fly” based on their vibe. A quality DJ will not only have quality equipment, but will possess the necessary skills to perform on the equipment to bring your event to life.
Quality may cost you a little more up front, but will pay off for you in the end!
